Babe Didrikson wins third U.S. Women´s Open golf Championship. In the NBA, Minneapolis beats New York to retain the championship for the third straight year. In the NFL, Cleveland roust Detroit, 56-10. Rocky Marciano defeats Ezzard Charles twice this year, ending Charles´ career. "Determine" wins the Kentucky Derby. Surprising the sports writers but not themselves the Warriors carried home the first State Basketball Tournament Championship. The final score was 56-55.
