Carol D. (Johnson) Busbey, 84, passed away Aug. 17, 2020, in Phoenix, AZ., Carol was born Nov. 30, 1935, to Ernest C. and Elaine Johnson in Brainerd. She attended grade school and high school in Brainerd. Carol was united in marriage to Duane C. Busbey, Brainerd, on Sept. 18, 1954, and they had four children. They made their home near South Long Lake, Brainerd, for many years.Carol was employed by ISD No. 181 in the Food Service at the Brainerd High School. Upon retirement they moved to Black Canyon City, AZ, and lived there until ill health in recent years forced them to move to a nursing home complex in Phoenix, where she passed away. Duane passed away in 2019. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, and one infant grandchild, Jesse J. Busbey. She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Charlie) Champlin, Phoenix, AZ, son Kevin (Debbie) Busbey, Brainerd, daughter Karin (Shawn) Herzog, Melrose, and son Arden (Carole) Busbey, Brainerd; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Sands, Baxter.
There will be a graveside memorial service and interment on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 14139 Co. Rd. 22, officiated by Pastor Harvey Peterson. Following will be a light lunch and family visitation at Jack’s House, 300 Hwy. 25 S., Brainerd, at 11:30 a.m.
