Wanye Irving Tank

Wayne I. Tank, 68, passed away at his home in Baxter on Aug. 1, 2006. He was born on Dec. 22, 1937, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., to Irving and Frieda (Karsten) Tank. He graduated from Washington High School in 1955. He worked at Woolworth's as assistant manager and route salesman for Meadow Gold Dairy, then as assistant manager for Bowlerama in San Antonio when he had the honor of signing the largest contract in ABC history with SW Bell Telephone Co.

He ran Tank's Club with his father and then later ran it by himself until he sold the business. He was a very active member of the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Club and the American Legion. He was president of the Brainerd Aerie No. 287 twice and also for the district twice. He served as the Minnesota state president and started two new clubs. In his 15 years at the state level he put on workshops on club management. He and his wife ran Tank's Discount Furniture in Brainerd from 1984-2004. He is survived by his wife, Beth Ann, of Baxter; daughters, Lori Metzger, of Mobile, Ala., Vicki Randall, of Baxter, and Debbie Rodriguez, of Seattle; his brother, Gene (Linda) Tank, of New Brighton, Minn.; his sister, Fayetta (Edward) Knickmeier, of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Paul Biegner officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Brainerd. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
